Global climate change has imposed a directional shift on corporate risk profiles. During 2024 in the U.S., there were 27 individual weather and climate disasters each with at least $1 billion in damages. One thing is certain, the prevalence of weather-related disasters is increasing.
Climate-related crises include extreme storms, flash floods, landslides, heatwaves, wildfires and blizzards and the World Economic Forum’s “Global Risks Report 2025" ranked extreme weather events as the most significant global risk over the next decade.
Insite has issued a briefing that examines how climate-related crises have immediate and longer-term impact on corporate physical security programs. The impact analysis covers evolving risk frameworks, how weather disasters affect human resources and productivity, and new security standards required to mitigate the related threats.
Insite's analysts have included strategies to enhance preparedness and resiliency given the increasing frequency of events driven by climate change.
